Borders Forest TrustThe author is a biological surveyor and habitat ecologist with over twenty years’ experience in botanical surveying, conservation management, habitat restoration/creation and compiling detailed reports for various statutory, commercial and charitable organisations. The author’s main area of interest is in the study of semi-natural and near-natural vegetation (especially in the Southern Uplands) with particular reference to both plant and vegetation succession and the effects of certain treatments. The author has been involved in and worked on several ecological restoration schemes both here in the Southern Uplands and also in the Highlands and is an original member of the Carrifran Wildwood Group.
